OLMSTED, Ill. -- Betty Bierbaum, 79, of Olmsted died at 12:52 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Betty was born April 8, 1931, in Wolf Lake, Ill., to Claude and Velma Kinney Edwards. She married Walter Bierbaum on Nov. 13, 1957.
Betty was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served for four years. She was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olmsted and she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Walter Bierbaum of Olmsted; two sons Charles and Karl Bierbaum, both of Olmsted; a sister, Helen Copeland of Anna, Ill.; two brothers, Richard (Norma) Edwards of Olmsted and Frank Edwards of Murphysboro, Ill.; a nephew, Ronnie Eppenheimer of Carbondale, Ill.; and other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Tammy Bierbaum; a sister, Opal Rowley; and two infant brothers, Leon and Kenney Edwards.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Donner officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Olmsted with full military honors.
