Bette L. Wiist, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Columbia, Ill., daughter of Max and Mina Noelke Radau. She and Karl E. Wiist were married on Dec. 22, 1949, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1982...

Bette L. Wiist, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Columbia, Ill., daughter of Max and Mina Noelke Radau. She and Karl E. Wiist were married on Dec. 22, 1949, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1982.

Wiist worked for R.B. Potashnick as a secretary for 10 years and volunteered at Southeast Missouri Hospital for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Mottola of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Grasso of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren, Karl, Darren and Blake Heuring, John D. Mayfield, Melissa Bryant and Nick Vetro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter, Debra Heuring.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Charles Prost officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society (breast cancer research), 106 Farrar Drive, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63701.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
