DEXTER -- Bessie M. Shipman, 98, of Dexter died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Services of Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 28, 1899, near Dexter, daughter of Thomas L. and Carrie Tracer Allstun. She and William Earnest Shipman were married March 10, 1916, at Dexter. He died Dec. 19, 1975.
Shipman lived in the Dexter area all her life, and was a member of Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Shipman of Bloomfield, Willie and Dale Shipman of Dexter; three brothers, Arthur Allstun of Patterson, Walter and Loren Allstun of Dexter; three sisters, Ruth Larsen of Bloomfield, Lucy Harrison and Alice Abbott of Dexter; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, daughter, brother, and three sisters.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Dale Grissom officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
