MARBLE HILL -- Bessie Burk, 93, of Marble Hill, died Wednesday, March 16, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 12, 1901, at Grassy, daughter of Ruben and Parley Myers Abernathy. She and Willard Burk were married Dec. 25, 1917. He died Sept. 13, 1965.
Burk was a member of Lutesville United Pentecostal Church, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary at Marble Hill.
Survivors include a son, Joe Burk of Sikeston; four daughters, Corinne Buescher of Bethalto, Ill., Doris Reitzel of Jackson, Wilma Schreiner of Cape Girardeau, Virginia Smith of Moro, Ill.; two brothers, Marion Abernathy of Puxico, Roy Abernathy of Wood River, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Slaten officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemtery.
