DEXTER -- Funeral service for Bessie Almond of Dexter, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Second General Baptist Church. The Rev. Terryl Almond, a grandson, will officiate, assisted by the Revs. Vyron Yount and Kenneth Biggs. Burial will be in West Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Bloomfield.
Almond, 96, died Thursday, July 18, 1996, at her home.
She was born Oct. 12, 1899, near Bloomfield, daughter of W.O. and Elsie Street Chasteen. She and W.H. "Bill" Almond were married May 25, 1919. He died in March 1966.
Survivors include a son, Billy Almond of Aid; a daughter, Lois Russell of Dexter; two brothers, Fletcher Chasteen of Dexter, Commodore Chasteen of Luck, Wis.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
