PAINTON -- Bess C. Painton, 95, of Painton died Monday, June 21, 1999, at Advance Nursing Care Center in Advance.
She was born Nov. 24, 1903, at Bloomfield, daughter of Newton and Cornelia Walker Cobb. She and Herbert J. Painton were married July 7, 1925, at Bloomfield. He died Dec. 29, 1981.
Painton had been a teacher at Bell City and Painton schools, and was a substitute rural mail carrier.
She was a member of Bell City United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday School 25 years. She was a member of Painton Homemakers Club and Oran Bridge Club.
Survivors include two sons, Albert and Don Painton of Painton; three daughters, Mary Wall of St. Ann, Linda Wilkinson of El Paso, Texas, Christine Hodges of Oran; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, five brothers, and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Methodist Church in Oran, with the Rev. Bennie Wilsey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Garden near Morley.
