Bess Margaret Barks, 93, 3120 Independence, died Tuesday, Spet. 17, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born July 8, 1898, at Jackson, daughter of Milton Webster and Margaret Sadie Campbell Gholson. She married William M. Barks Feb. 12, 1928, at Jackson.
Barks had been a member of First Presbyterian Church 63 years. She was past president of the women of the church, Church Women United, Franklin PTA, and had been a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of Sinawik, Hill and Dale Garden Club, Wednesday Club, and former Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include a son, Glenn Barks of Sikeston; a daughter, Margaret Guthrie of Maryland Heights; a sister, Mary Masters of Cape Girardeau, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Charles Grant will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
