BERTIE KNIGHT

GRAY RIDGE -- Bertie Knight, 89, of Gray Ridge, died Sunday Aug. 11, 1996, at her home.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1906, in Gray Ridge, the daughter of the late Henry and Sarah E. Harlan Stephens. She was a homemaker and member of the Gray Ridge General Baptist Church. She married Wilburn "Bill" Knight on Dec. 26, 1926. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1965.

She is survived by three sons, Conrad Knight, of Titusville, Fla., Bobby Knight, of Festus, and Vearl Knight, of Eureka; two daughters, Cozette Lape, of Sikeston, and Katie Davis, of Gray Ridge; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter.

Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Essex officiating. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
