Bertha Wells, 87, of Scott City passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007, in her loving home.

She was born March 14, 1920, on a farm near Kelso, Mo., daughter of William and Anna Georger Dohogne. She married Albert David Wells Feb. 18, 1952. He passed away Jan. 29, 1979.

Bertha worked many happy years at Schrieffer's Grocery in Fornfelt, staying on when Joe Boss became the new owner. In later years, she kept books for Frank Noon and Oral Noon at Modern Roofing Co. in Scott City. She was more than a valued employee, she was a good friend.

During her lifetime she was treasured by family and friends for the intelligent, insightful humor she found in everyday matters. She read voraciously, and during her heyday "Bert" could have competed with the Dancing With The Stars contestants. She knew how to dance up a storm.
