SIKESTON -- Bertha V. Burns Rofkahr, 64, of Sikeston died Friday, May 7, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born May 10, 1928 in Johnson County, Ark., daughter of John and Joyce Yates Murphy.
She was a sewing machine operator for International Shoe Co. for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Sikeston Eagles Aerie No. 3319.
On Feb. 12, 1949 at Piggott, Ark., she married George C. Burns. He died on Feb. 20, 1982. She then married Leo Rofkahr on April 27, 1984 in Sikeston. He survives of the home.
Also surviving are three sons, Tom and Devin Burns of Sikeston, and Dennis Burns of Huntsville, Ala.; three stepsons, Larry Rofkahr of Cape Girardeau, and Ronnie and Eddie Rofkahr of Sikeston; one stepdaughter, Donna Rofkahr of Sikeston; five brothers, Hubert Murphy of Jackson, Harchel Murphy of Modesto, Ill., Hershall and Mike Murphy of Sikeston, and Jim Murphy of Corpus Christi, Texas; six sisters, Patricia Freeman of Fayetteville, Ark., Edith Nugent and Irene Shieder of Granite City, Ill., and Christine McCoy, Linda Taylor and Judy Cuppolla of Sikeston; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Two brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel with the Rev. Lee Fansler of the Blodgett Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
