Bertha Ann Schnurbusch Unterreiner, 99, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born Nov. 4, 1915, in Old Appleton, Missouri, to Joseph F. and Helen Ponder Schnurbusch.
She and Clemens Unterreiner were married Sept. 10, 1943, in Pasadena, California. He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1965.
In her younger years, she worked at Western Union in Chicago and Los Angeles.
Later in life, she worked part time at Cape Answering Service in Cape Girardeau.
She was a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary many years.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include four sons, Charles (Donna) Unterreiner and Ronald (Donna) Unterreiner of St. Louis, Wayne (Jane) Unterreiner and Steve (Debra) Unterreiner of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Jane (Ray) Mrozewski of St. Louis; two brothers, William Schnurbusch of St. Louis and Ruben Schnurbusch of Old Appleton; a sister, Betty Rellergert of St. Louis; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Unterreiner Stern; her parents; seven brothers; and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, Notre Dame Regional High School, or to a charity of your choice.
