EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Bertha May Treadwell, 84, of East Prairie died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
She was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Kentucky, daughter of Charlie and Pearl Love. She first married William Brice Smith, who died Feb. 24, 1964. She and James Delmer Treadwell were married in December 1968.
Treadwell and her first husband owned a country store in the Windyville community near East Prairie until 1964. She lived in Mulkeytown, Ill., several years, returning to East Prairie three years ago. She was a member of First Church of God in East Prairie.
Survivors include two sons, Larry and James Smith of East Prairie; three stepsons, Don and Larry Treadwell of Bakersfield, Calif., J.D. Treadwell of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Lindsey of Sikeston, Mo.; five grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 22 great-stepgrandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, with Rob Kespelher and Carl Addison officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
