Bertha McPherson, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Nov. 9, 1930, at Tupelo, Miss., daughter of Enoch and Eula Blackshear Coleman. McPherson worked as a seamstress in Southern Illinois and later at Procter & Gamble for 16 years. She was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church...

Bertha McPherson, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Nov. 9, 1930, at Tupelo, Miss., daughter of Enoch and Eula Blackshear Coleman.

McPherson worked as a seamstress in Southern Illinois and later at Procter & Gamble for 16 years. She was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters; Minnie Hammonds of Cape Girardeau, Jean Woodring of Cairo, Ill., and Ruthie Smith of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Joe Coleman of Chester, Ill.; a sister, Ozell Cooper of Fort Pierce, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

Friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Ford and Sons in charge of the arrangements.
