BERTHA L. SMITH

SCOTT CITY -- Bertha Lee Smith, 93, of Scott City, died Wednesday, May 12, 1993, at her home.

She was born Aug. 9, 1899, at Delta, daughter of Charles Henry and Mary Elizabeth Scarlets Kynion. She and Odis Millard Smith were married April 26, 1917, at Delta. He died Aug. 31, 1966.

Smith was a retired sewing machine operator from Buckstein Pants Factory in Chaffee.

Survivors include a son, Curtis Smith of Kankakee, Ill.; five daughters, Lucille Lee of Arnold, Jewell Fowler of Scott City, Arlie Bradley of Pevely, Annie Cobb and Myrtle Steimle of Chaffee; a sister, Addie Watts of Bloomfield; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Thornhill will officiate, with burial in Fairview Cemetery near Arbor.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
