Berniece Mercer, 80, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Azalia Trace in Pensacola, Fla. She was born July 26, 1918, daughter of W.G. and Jennie Wallace. She and Byron W. Mercer were married Oct. 19, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. He died Sept. 16, 1998...

Berniece Mercer, 80, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Azalia Trace in Pensacola, Fla.

She was born July 26, 1918, daughter of W.G. and Jennie Wallace. She and Byron W. Mercer were married Oct. 19, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. He died Sept. 16, 1998.

Mercer was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Orsini of Woodbridge, Va.; two sons, Rodney Mercer of Tucson, Ariz., Duane Mercer of Lenexa, Kan.; a brother, Billie Wallace of Cape Girardeau; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Burial was March 4 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
