Bernice Regina Jansen, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born July 6, 1921, in Scott County, Missouri to Michael Nicholas and Coletta Louise LeGrand Dirnberger. She and Leon Jansen were married Jan. 13, 1943, at St. Denis Church in Benton, Missouri.

Bernice attended St. Denis School in Benton, Missouri. She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, the Women's Council, and was active in Cursillo.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Jansen of Cape Girardeau; sons Larry (Loretta) Jansen of Jackson, Jerry (Linda) Jansen of Jackson and James (Stacy, Jim's former bride) Jansen of St. Louis; sister LaVerne Wilhelm of Scott City; daughter-in-law Joyce Jansen of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Leonard Jansen; brother Cornelius Dirnberger of Oran, Missouri; and a sister, Leoma Dirnberger.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or given to be used for Masses.
