Bernice Irene Clark, 99, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Lima, Ohio, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Mrs. Clark was born Dec. 17, 1900, in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of Albert William Myers and Nellie Beatrice Wyatt-Myers of Norwalk, Ohio. She and Sherman Johnson Clark were married Nov. 18, 1922. He died Dec. 19, 1955.
Mrs. Clark was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lima since April 1911, a member of the Philathea Sunday School Class, past president of Women's Society of Christian Service, and United Methodist Women.
She was a Republican committeewoman for Ward 6 in Lima, presiding judge at the election polls 66 years, past president of Lincoln Elementary School PTA, member and past president of South High School Band Parents, member of Federated Women's Club, and past president of Hawthorn Literary Club and Order of Eastern Star.
She was a homemaker, and did volunteer work during World War II by serving free sandwiches and coffee for the Red Cross to soldiers on troop trains.
Survivors include two sons, Robert James Clark of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Paul Johnson Clark of Lima, Ohio, and Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Marilyn Myers Clark-Callahan of Sun City West, Ariz., Carol Ann Clark-Jones of Cape Girardeau; two daughters-in-law; a son-in-law, Robert E. Jones of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren, including Paula Jones-Thomas of Olive Branch, Ill., and R. Christopher Jones of Kelso, Mo.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Ray Myers.
A memorial service will be held at Lima in August 2001.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
