ADVANCE, Mo. — Bernard Mark Kiefer, 66, of Advance passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Bernard was born April 27, 1950, at Cape Girardeau, the son of Frank and Ellen Cody Kiefer.
Bernard worked at Charles Scheffer in the parts department. He attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Glennon, Missouri. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Bernard and Lavern LeGrand were united in marriage Dec. 20, 1969, at Chaffee, Missouri, and she survives of the home.
Survivors include his wife, Lavern Kiefer of Advance; two sons, Mark Kiefer of Lexington, Kentucky, and Matthew Kiefer of Gordonville; a brother, Vernon Kiefer of Fruitland; and three sisters, Camilla Dirnberger of Oran, Missouri, Aleta Kiefer of Washington, Missouri, and Patricia Evans of Delta.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Glennon. Burial will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military rites.
