SIKESTON -- Funeral for Bernard "Shorty" Crain of Sikeston will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. Msgr. William Stanton will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service.

Crain, 92, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 4, 1906, in Sikeston, son of Straud and Altha Crain. He and Veda Mae Bean were married Dec. 18, 1928.

Crain was employed 35 years at International Shoe Co.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph Crain of Jackson; a daughter, Berneta Monighan of Tacoma, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
