Bernard Beussink

Bernard Anthony Beussink, 69, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 1, 1938, in Leopold, Mo., son of Herman and Mary Holzum Beussink. He and Clarice Elfrink were married Sept. 17, 1960, in Leopold.

Bernard was a 1957 graduate of Leopold High School. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged May 20, 1959.

He worked for Overhead Door Co. of Southeast Missouri in Jackson, and in 1967 started the B.H. Beussink Construction Co., retiring in 2003.

Bernard was a 4th Degree knight, and a member of the Bisho Timon Knights of Columbus Council No. 6405 in Jackson, as well as past grand knight and past district deputy.

He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson since 1960.

Loving survivors include his wife of Jackson; two sons, Marvin, his sons, Travis and Trevor, wife, Sheila, her daughter, Conner King, and their children, Addison and Seth of Jackson, Brian (Staci) and their children, Brett, Anna, Sydney and Jayden; a daughter, Laura (Tim) Knight and their children, Alec and Cody of St. Peters, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Kim Beussink; and a granddaughter, Danielle Beussink; three brothers; and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James "Jimmy" Beussink; a daughter, Mary Beussink; and two brothers.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The rosary will be said at 7, lead by the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
