UNITY, Ill. -- Graveside service for Beondred K. Lathan of Unity will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at National Cemetery in Mounds, Ill., with full military honors.

He was born Sept. 23, 1931, son of Otis and Alice Lathan.

Lathan grew up in Unity. He enlisted in the U.S. Army May 8, 1950, at the age of 18. He was never heard from again. He was reported as missing in action Nov. 27, 1950. It is presumed he died Dec. 31, 1953, in the line of duty. His remains were recently identified through DNA.

Survivors include a brother, Ollie Lathan of Unity.
