BENTON -- Benson Winters, 68, of Benton died Dec. 17, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 21, 1926, at St. Louis to the late Roy and Elsie L. Roberts Winters.

He was employed by Pic-Walsh Freight Co. in St. Louis until his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was married to Alta Lillian Johnson, who preceded him in death May 30, 1981. He also was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Winters.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary McGinnis of Steelville, Lynn Wells of St. Louis and Sandy Ripple of Benton; four brothers, Kenneth Winters of Berkeley, Mo., Robert Winters of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ivan Winters of Mitchell, Ind., and Donald Winters of Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters, Linda Bryant of Williamsport, Ind., and Geraldine Perry of Bertrand; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call today after 5 p.m. at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Marvin Graham, pastor of the Vanduser Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Morley.
