BENNIE MIER

ALTON, Ill. -- Funeral for Bennie L. Mier of Alton will be held at 1 p.m. today at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. The Rev. Bond Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park at Godfrey, Ill.

Mier, 63, died unexpectedly Friday, July 7, 2000, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 25, 1936, at Randles, Mo., son of Landon F. and Jewel Sheets Mier. He and Yvonne Duke were married July 19, 1955, at Arbor, Mo.

Mier was employed at General Motors 28 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of United Auto Workers.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include a daughter, Tamra Robertson of Alton; his mother of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; four brothers, Larry Mier of Advance, Mo., Michael Mier of Houston, Texas, Jim Mier of Biehle, Mo., Frank Mier of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father.
