ADVANCE -- Ben F. Kight, 68, of rural Advance died Sunday, March 1, 1992, at his home.

He was born March 20, 1923, at Arbor, the son of John H. and Elizabeth Hitt Kight. On May 17, 1975, he married Millie Kight, who survives of the home.

He was an independent insurance agent and farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Advance, served 39 years on the Southeast Missouri District Fair Board, and was a past president of the Missouri State Fair Association. He also was a member of the Jackson Men's Garden Club; the American Rose Society; and the St. Louis, Memphis and Blytheville Rose Society. He was the Oak Valley 4-H Club Leader for 20 years; a former member of the Delta R-5 School District Board of Education for nine years; a volunteer for the Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary; and a member of the Cape County Historial Society.

Survivors include a son, Gary N. Kight of Advance; a step-son, Donnie Bohnsack of Advance; two daughters, Myra Rhodes of Gordonville and Kathy Cooper of Bartlett, Tenn.; a sister, Marjorie Taylor of West Plains; and eight grandchildren.

Seven brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, where funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Billy Davis will officiate, and burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
