Rebecca A. "Becky" Knudtson Higgins, formerly of Aitkin and Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau as a result of a tragic brain aneurysm. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was born Rebecca Ann Ludvigson Jan. 25, 1942, in Westbrook, Minnesota, to Harry H. and Etta Broers Ludvigson.
In 1960, Becky married Roger E. Knudtson, and they resided in Rochester, Minnesota, where they raised two sons, Jay and James "Jimmy" Knudtson. During her working years, Becky was an executive secretary for Owen Korsmo's State Farm Insurance Agency in Rochester.
In 1987, Becky married Clifford V. Higgins, and in 1990 they moved to Aitkin on beautiful Mille Lacs Lake, where they remained until Clifford's passing in January 2016. Becky consistently referred to this as their "Wonderful Lake Life" as the walleyes were plentiful and friends were many.
Following Clifford's passing, Becky moved to Cape Girardeau to be closer to her only remaining family. The family has been so blessed to have her close over the past seven years and, while she missed her home state of Minnesota, she was proud to call Cape Girardeau home!
Becky is survived by her son, Jay Knudtson, and his wife, Cindy of Cape Girardeau; grandson, Gunnar Knudtson, and his wife, Holly of Cape Girardeau; and her precious new great-granddaughter, Stella James Knudtson, whom she was so thrilled to hold upon her arrival May 28, 2023.
In addition to her husband, Becky was preceded in death by her parents; beloved brother, Gary; and son, James "Jimmy" Knudtson, who was lost in a tragic motorcycle accident in 1998. Jimmy was her pride and joy!
Becky was an avid Bible reader and cherished her relationship with her Lord and Savior. She was proud to call La Croix Church of Cape Girardeau her church home. Becky has touched many, and she will be deeply missed. We love you, Becky, and thanks for being our mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend!
A memorial service for immediate family will take place at a later date with Senior Pastor Ron Watts of La Croix Church officiating. The family appreciates all your prayers.
Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
