Beatrice Redman Stauffer, 93, a resident of the Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau and formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away June 27, 2015, in the skilled nursing care center at the Chateau Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Advance, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, of 70 years; her parents, Joe and Jewell Redman of Bell City, Missouri; three sisters, Phyllis Cook, Sara Jean Redman and Georgia Bollinger; and two brothers, Austin Redman, a 2-year-old brother, and an infant brother.
Beatrice was an active and longtime member of the First Methodist Church of Sikeston, serving in a multitude of ways over many years. She especially enjoyed helping each year with the church's annual bazaar. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Order of the Eastern Star, the Women's Society of Christian Service and the Civic Club.
Beatrice was also a very successful Tupperware dealer for 10 years and was made district manager due to her selling skills.
She was a devoted wife and mother.
She was extremely involved in her children's activities in a variety of ways. She served many years as a room mother, helped with PTA events and held offices for fourteen years. ln addition to being a Scout leader for both her children's Scout troops, she served several years on the Cotton Bowl Girl Scout Board and served as the Girl Scouts Neighborhood Chairman.
She also helped many years collecting for various drives such as the Heart Fund, the Cancer Society, and Easter Seals.
Her interest included embroidering pictures, doing cross stitch and crossword puzzles, playing bridge and pinochle and entertaining guests in her home with her well-known cooking and baking talents.
She also tended to a huge garden each year and was happy to share the results with family, friends and the needy.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay (Roger) Tolliver of Cape Girardeau; a son, Dale Stauffer of Punta Gorda, Florida; a granddaughter, Amy (Scott) Hatmaker; and three great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Mallory and Davis, all of Atlanta.
In addition to floral memorials, contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church of Sikeston, the Chateau Girardeau's employee Christmas fund and the Chateau Girardeau's
Foundation Fund in Cape Girardeau.
The family would especially like to thank the following: Mrs. Stauffer's personal caregiver, Debby Mahan, whose love and devotion went far beyond what was expected; the skilled nursing staff at the Chateau for their excellent care and compassion; and Southeast Hospital's Hospice workers for their continued emotional support.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mike Wondel, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
