JACKSON -- Funeral service for Beatrice M. Simms of Jackson will be held at 1 p.m. today at Futrell Memorial Church of God in Christ. Elder William Byrd will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery. Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.
Simms, 86, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born March 11, 1906, at Jackson, daughter of Albert and Josephine Sheppard Mitchell. She married Barney Simms in 1958, who preceded her in death in 1974.
Simms moved here 15 years ago from St. Louis, where she was employed in house cleaning. She was a member of St. John's AME Church.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence Wade of Jackson; a daughter, Dorothy Wade of St. Louis; two brothers, Marvin Mitchell of St. Louis, James Mitchell of Jackson; three sisters, Erma Seibert of Jackson, Fera Williams and Hester Wheeler of St. Louis; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, five brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.
