BEATRICE E. BROOKS

CAIRO, Ill. -- Beatrice E. Brooks, 94, of Cairo died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 10, 1902, in Cairo, the daughter of Fuller and Hattie Cowser Hoskins. She married George Brooks, who preceded her in death.

Brooks was the owner of the Garden Inn Motel and Trailer Court before her retirement. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem and Cairo Chamber of Commerce. She was a past president of the Cairo Business and Professional Women's Club.

Brooks was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, George R. Brooks of Cairo, two grandsons and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call from 5-7:30 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.
