BARNEY GEORGE

SIKESTON -- W.L. "Barney" George, 77, of Sikeston, died Monday, April 10, 1995, at his home.

He was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Holland, Mo., son of James and Birdie Leach George. He and Eleanor Minich were married March 15, 1937, at Benton.

George had worked for Division of Family Services. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class, American Legion, and AmVets. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beverly Holden and Nancy Byrd of Sikeston; two sisters, Mary Pfifer of Ridgeway, Ill., Jennie Abrewezynski of Liberty, and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
