THEBES, Ill. -- Barbara Tinsley, 76, of Thebes died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in McGregor, Iowa, daughter of Foster and Mabel Weir Merritt. She and Alvie "Curly" Tinsley were married May 30, 1959.
Tinsley served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. She was a member of American Legion Post 0900 at McClure.
Survivors include her husband; a stepson, Carl Tinsley of Hollywood, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Debra Hogue of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Francis Merritt of Milwaukee, Wis., Carlton Merritt of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a sister, Shirley Anderson of Osage, Iowa; seven stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
