CAIRO, Ill. -- Barbara A. Sneed, 81, of Cairo died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. She was born July 14, 1932, in Arkansas, daughter of Jay and Flora Dale Flagg. She married Jack Sneed, who died in 1998. Barbara was a well-known beautician and owner of Barbara's Beauty Shop in Cairo more than 40 years. She and Jack operated Sneed's Cafe in Cairo many years. She was an active member of Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo many years...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Barbara A. Sneed, 81, of Cairo died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

She was born July 14, 1932, in Arkansas, daughter of Jay and Flora Dale Flagg. She married Jack Sneed, who died in 1998.

Barbara was a well-known beautician and owner of Barbara's Beauty Shop in Cairo more than 40 years. She and Jack operated Sneed's Cafe in Cairo many years. She was an active member of Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo many years.

Survivors include a son, Allan (Barbara) Lang of Villa Ridge, Ill.; three grandchildren, Emily (Greg) Clemens of Nashville, Tenn., Faith Ann Northington of Kevil, Ky., and Matthew (Jacqueline) Honey of Cairo; three great-grandchildren, Klohe Ann Hope Wood, Seth Allen Clemens and Sophie Leigh Clemens; a brother, Jack (Pat) Flagg of St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Wilma Jean Davis of Slidell, La.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Northington; a son, Kevin Lang; and two brothers, Bob (her twin) and James Flagg.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mighty Rivers Worship Center, with Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
