CAIRO, Ill. -- Barbara H. Pitcher, 87, of Cairo, formerly of Olmsted, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 14, 1931, in Olmsted, the daughter of George and Ruth Caster Holman. She married William T. Pitcher Jr. in 1950, and he preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1982.
Barbara worked at St. Mary's Hospital as an admissions clerk and a switchboard operator at First National Bank in Cairo. She loved her family and spending time with them. One of her hobbies she loved to do was finding out her family history doing genealogy. Barbara was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a son, Alan (Debbie) Pitcher of Cairo; daughters, Lynne Nance of Cairo and Lori Wilkerson of Braggadocio, Missouri; grandsons, Richie (Cherie) Pitcher of Cairo, Joshua Stokes of Sikeston, Missouri, and Nathan Stokes of Marion, Illinois; granddaughters, Kristi (Buddy) Kobel of Thebes, Illinois, Kara Stokes of Cairo and Ferrell Wilkerson of Hornersville, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will follow at Mound City (Illinois) National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
