Barbara A. Noel, 79, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at her home in Jackson.

She was born Feb. 28, 1938, in Jackson to James W. and Mabel Morrison Godwin. She and Harry A. Noel were married May 18, 1963, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. They had been married nearly 44 years when Harry passed away April 1, 2008.

Barbara was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked as a secretary for the former Boss and Puls Insurance in Jackson, and later, she worked many years for Lakenan-Midland Insurance Agency in Jackson, retiring in May 2000.

Barb was a faithful, lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she also held the longest membership. She was active in the Woman's Missionary Union, choir and JOY Choir until her health rendered her unable to participate.

She enjoyed helping others as she could and made cot sheets for a local daycare.

Loving survivors include three children, Rebecca Terry of Gravel Hill, Clarissa Noel of Daisy and William Noel of Jackson; her special friend, Lester Sample of Jackson; five grandchildren, Christan (David) Wilson of Jackson, Sarah (Kyle) Karcher of Cape Girardeau, George Terry of Gravel Hill, Casey Fluegge of Jackson and Landon Terry of Gravel Hill; three great-grandchildren, Thomas and Paisley Wilson and Ashlynn Bramlett; a brother-in-law, Danny (Janice) Noel of Ballwin, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Edna (the late Joe) Crader of Cape Girardeau and Mary Noel of East Prairie, Missouri; and a brother-in-law, Rockwell Nathan (the late Ellen) Greene of San Ramon, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister, Bettie (Paul Ray) Dow.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lucas Clabough officiating. A committal service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Mission Fund at First Baptist Church in Jackson or Southeast Hospice. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mccombsfuneralhome.com.

The Noel family appreciates the friendship of Southeast Hospice and the special care given to Barb.
