Barbara Morse

Well, Heaven picked up another great one this week. Although family members' hearts are reeling over the loss of mother, sister, friend and Nana, they are happy to know she is home with her husband and mother and all the other beautiful hearts that were waiting for her and watching over her.

On Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, Barbara Ann Morse passed away peacefully at the age of 70. She was born May 25, 1951, in Cape Girardeau to the late William Scott and Anita Burgess Jordan. Her loved ones are happy to have celebrated her 70th birthday with her earlier this year. They would have attached a picture of that celebration, but Nana was well-known for never stopping talking while pictures were being taken. All those goofy pictures at home will be cherished for years to come. She left far too soon, as did her husband, Randy, who passed away Oct. 7, 2014. Both of these losses came on days the Cardinals were playing the Dodgers, so please feel free to hate the Dodgers even more than you may have already.

Barb lived through her heart, and all who sat side by side with her at La Croix Church, from the days when services were held in the movie theater in the mall to the congregation you know now, can attest to her love and faith. For many years she worked as a special education assistant for Cape Girardeau Central Middle School. She never met a child she didn't love with all her heart.

She is deeply missed by her son, Erik (Andrea) Morse, and grandchildren, Oliver and Amelia; daughter, Emily (Paulina) Levaggi; brother, William Scott (Brenda) Jordan II; sisters, Bonny L. Kalb, Angie (Jeff) Schott and Annette Marie (David) Emmons; sister-in-law, Sandee (Don) Burton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb didn't sit down to relax very often. She was always moving around and would keep up with anyone. For so many years, all of her friends in her cycling classes at the gym kept a smile on her face and brought so much joy and love to her heart. That empty bike will be a hard one to fill. But it was no mystery to anyone that her favorite time was spent with her siblings, nieces and nephews and especially her grandchildren, Ollie and Millie. There will never be another Nana like this one.

Private graveside service will be held for family, and she will be laid to rest next to Randy at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
