ORAN, Mo. -- Barbara Earlene Merick, daughter of the late Herman and Iva Irene Workman Liggett, was born June 29, 1942, in Bell City, Missouri and departed this life Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Southeast Health Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 79 years.
Barbara was united in marriage to Doyle "Bill" Merick on Dec. 16, 1998, and he survives of the home.
She was a secretary at Bell City Elementary School. After retirement, she loved watching her favorite baseball teams play -- the St. Cardinals, Oran and Bell City.
She is survived by a son, Jim (Bobbie) Rampley of Bell City; two daughters, Tammie (Steve) Haas of Cape Girardeau and Sherry (Eric) Urhahn of Oran; brother, Marlin (Joyce) Liggett of Hazelwood, Missouri; two sisters, Patsy Umfleet of Advance, Missouri, and Juanita (Jerry) Fisher of Dexter; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Liggett, and two sisters, Zilpha Abernathy and Linda Schroeder
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
