Barbara May

Barbara J. May, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at Life Care Center.

She was born Friday, Dec. 18, 1942, in St. Louis to the late Alvin and Florence Boyer Gooch. She married Eugene May at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death in September 2000.

Barbara was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Vickie May and Sherry Smith of Cape Girardeau; son, Leland May of Allenville; brother, John Gooch of Crump; sisters, Rose Musgrave of Gordonville, Shirley Musgrave of Portageville, Missouri, and Carolyn Lawrence of Deport, Texas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with pastor Joel Kidwell officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
