Barbara Lee Lukefahr, 82, of Perryville peacefully passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 18, 1942, in St. Louis to Norvell J. "Bud" and Mary Veronica "Vera" Short Becker. Barbara and Simon "Joe" Lukefahr were married June 11, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Highland. He preceded her in death April 10, 2008. They were blessed with 45 years of marriage.
Barbara was a secretary at Association of the Miraculous Medal office in Perryville. She was a dedicated homemaker and a devoted wife and mother, raising seven children and many grandchildren. She worked at Hoeckele's Bakery & Deli in Perryville. Lastly, she loved working with the children at Little Wonders Learning Center in Perryville.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Survivors include two sons and five daughters, Jeffery (significant other, Lori Schumer) Lukefahr of Minnith, Michelle (Bill) Schumer of Perryville, Lisa (Terry) Wibbenmeyer of Perryville, Tina (Randy) Ernst of Marion, Illinois, Tammy (Phillip) Hacker, Jennifer Lukefahr of Potosi and Mark (Heather) Lukefahr of Perryville; two brothers, Gary (Christine) Becker of Jackson and Pat (Connie) Becker of Perryville; sister-in-law, Mary Lukefahr of Perryville; 19 grandchildren, Makenda (Chris) Bogantes, Katie Lukefahr, Chloe Lukefahr, Savannah Jo Lukefahr, Zachary (Alyssa) Schumer, ShelbyLynne Schumer, Makayla (fiance, Ian Ferguson) Schumer, Veronica (Kaleb) Dauster, Luke Wibbenmeyer, Tyler Wibbenmeyer, Elizabeth (Dalton) Thieret, Amber Ashby, Matthew (Allyson) Ashby, Derek Hacker, Maggie Hacker, Tanner (fiancee, Jolee Dees) Koenig, Ashton Helmes, Kannon Helmes and Delilah Lukefahr; 10 great- grandchildren; and four nieces.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Simon "Joe" Lukefahr; sister-in-law, Sr. JoAnn Lukefahr, D.C.; and brother-in-law, the Rev. Oscar Lukefahr, C.M.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the church, with the Rev. Joe Geders, C.M., officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Schools or Journey Hospice.
