URBANA, Ill. -- Barbara Kasten passed away the morning of April 9, 2018, at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Barb was a Christmas baby, born in 1941, daughter of Floyd W. Hoffman and Janet Cook Hoffman in Buffalo, New York.
She earned a Ph.D. in early childhood education and taught at Trinity College in Washington, D.C. She loved to travel, defy social conventions and was truly a character with her own unique personality.
Barb is survived by her son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Stacy, and his four children, Isaac, August, Sadie and Ella of Champaign, Illinois; and daughter, Julie, and son-in-law Derek, and her three children, Brett, Victoria and Lauren of Summerfield, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Ronald "Ron."
Internment and funeral will be held at 10 a.m. June 8 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where Ron is buried.
A celebration of life will be held June 10 at Faith Lutheran Church in Merritt Island, Florida.
