OLMSTED, Ill. -- Barbara Racey George, 66, of Olmsted, Ill., died Friday, May 11, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was born July 11, 1934, at Cypress, daughter of George and Beatrice Racey. She was married to Joe George, who survives.

She worked as a cook for the Gore school in Olmsted and also for the Meridian school system until her retirement. She was a member of the Olmsted United Methodist Church, the Grand Chain Order of Eastern Star No. 710, the Olmsted United Methodist Women and the rural letters carrier auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of Olmsted; three daughters, Cheryl Stephens of Olmsted, Carol Thurston of Pulaski, Cindy Spaulding of Villa Ridge; her mother, Beatrice Racey of West Frankfort; three sisters, Wanda Zimmers of West Frankfort, Ann Vogel of Santa Claus, Ind., and Ruth Wicker of West Frankfort; a brother, James Racey of Tucson, Ariz.; a half-brother, Bob Racey of Michigan; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Olmsted United Methodist Church. Easter rites will be at 7:30 p.m. at the church.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Joey Dunning officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Cypress, Ill.

Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak is in charge of arrangements.
