Barbara Anne Crain, 66, of Cape Girardeau went home to heaven Thursday, June 4, 2015, after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Her devotion to her family, friends, and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

She was born Jan. 2, 1949, in Anna, Illinois, to the late Claude Miller and Barbara Inman Stearns. She married the love of her life, Jim L. Crain, on April 7, 1968, in Alto Pass, Illinois.

Barbara was a 1973 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She taught a few years in the Cape Girardeau public school system and then worked as bookkeeper alongside her husband in their business, The Medicine Shoppe, 30 years. She was an active member of Lynwood Baptist Church, where she served on medical and dental mission trips and also taught women's Bible studies in her home. She was a member of PEO International, loved to read, go to the beach, garden and cook for her family and friends.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jim; two daughters, Meredith (Alex) Ogburn and Chrisy (Jimmy) Wilferth of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Miller Ogburn, Libby Ogburn, James "Bo" Wilferth and Anne Meredith Wilferth; and many precious friends who were like family.
