Barbara Ann Beard of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center. Our Heavenly Father gained another angel on this day.
She was born Jan. 25, 1933, to Charles and Hazel Wulfers. Barbara grew up in Cape Girardeau. She married Richard Beard on Jan. 25, 1980.
She had five loving daughters, 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was employed for 35 years by the Harris companies, where she was an executive.
She was a faithful servant of God, always willing to help others and selfless in every way.
Among many talents, she was a successful businesswomen, a gifted seamstress, amazing cook and self-proclaimed doctor to all her loved ones -- Dr. Barb. Barbara was a mother, grandmother and friend to all.
Her proudest accomplishments were her five daughters. She loved them dearly.
Her grandchildren, however, were her pride and joy, and she spoiled them endlessly. She always said, "More special than our own children are the children of our children."
Survivors include her daughters, Diane (Gary) Bickings of Kelso, Missouri, Debbie (Tim) Suhre of Jackson, Linda (Joe) Stieffermann of Washington, Missouri, Laura (Rob) Younghouse of Cape Girardeau and Kim (Quent) Kasten of Cape Girardeau; sister, Bonnie Miller of Cape Girardeau; and brother, Tom Wulfers of Houston. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jeff Bickings, Jason Bickings, Nick Suhre, Kelli Hamm, Eric Stieffermann, Keith Stieffermann, Todd Stieffermann, Brittany Amick, Andrea Younghouse, Ashlee Younghouse, Brock Kasten and Karly Kasten; as well as many great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral Mass will follow at noon Friday at the church, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
