Barbara Barton

Barbara L. Barton, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau. She was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Bloomfield, Mo., the daughter of Daniel L. and Bessie Ruth Graves Riley. She and Joseph J. Barton where married in Hernando, Miss. He died in June of 1991...

Barbara L. Barton, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Bloomfield, Mo., the daughter of Daniel L. and Bessie Ruth Graves Riley. She and Joseph J. Barton where married in Hernando, Miss. He died in June of 1991.

Barton was an operator for GTE in California, retiring in 1992. She moved to Dexter, Mo., after her retirement, then to Cape Girardeau. Barton was a member of General Baptist Church of Aquilla, Mo.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph J. Barton of Westminster, Calif., Brian Barton of Bloomfield; two sisters, Lois A. Bell, Mary Jo Cossairt, both of Jackson; three brothers, Ray Dean Riley of St. Joseph, Mo., John E. Chapman of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Donald G. Chapman of Mill Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kyle Barton, Savanna Barton; and her dog, Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Perry L. and Grace Byrne Graves, who raised her.

There will be no services.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
