CHARLESTON -- Barbara Harris Baker, 96, of Kennett died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at National Health Care Center in Kennett. She was born April 28, 1901, daughter of Charles I. and Martha Lutz Sr. She and Elmo A. Baker were married Aug. 30, 1925. He died in 1951...

CHARLESTON -- Barbara Harris Baker, 96, of Kennett died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at National Health Care Center in Kennett.

She was born April 28, 1901, daughter of Charles I. and Martha Lutz Sr. She and Elmo A. Baker were married Aug. 30, 1925. He died in 1951.

Baker lived in Kennett most of her life. she was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was a longtime volunteer at Kennett Hospital. She was formerly of Charleston.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Baker of Houston, Texas, retired Air Force Col. Elmo Baker of Weatherford, Texas, Dewey Baker of Irving, Texas, Lee Baker of Winter Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara Midgley of Columbia; a brother, retired Col. Charles "Peachy" Lutz of Charleston; a sister, Emma Ryder of St. Louis; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett from 6-9 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McDaniel Funeral Home.

Friends may assemble at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston at 2 p.m. Saturday for procession to the graveside service at IOOF Cemetery.
