SCOTT CITY -- Arba William "A.W." Wright, 97, of Scott City died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at West Volusia Memorial Hospital in DeLand, Fla.
He was born Aug. 14, 1902, at Leora, son of Frank Harlan and Emma Kitchen Wright. He and Margaret Evelyn Pellett were married Jan. 1, 1930, in St. Petersburg, Fla. She died Jan. 5, 1999.
Wright had been superintendent at Scott City public schools and at Van Buren Schools. He then was director of Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corp.
He was a member of Illmo United Methodist Church in Scott City, member of Masonic Lodge 99 in Van Buren and was a 32nd degree Mason.
Survivors include a son, Michael Wright of Scott City; and a sister, Eva Lesem of DeLand.
He was preceded in death by two sons, two brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 4:30 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
