MARBLE HILL -- Avis J. Varvil, 72, of Marble Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1991 at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born June 26, 1919 to Thomas and Ancie Gaines Phillips.
On July 7, 1934, she married W.D. Varvil. He preceded her in death May 9, 1969.
Survivors include: three sons, Thomas and Leon Varvil, both of St. Louis, and Ron Varvil of Marble Hill; one daughter, Eileen Sitton of Modesto, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Phillips of Columbia, Ill. and Willard Phillips of Zalma; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
She was a retired nursing home operator. She was a member of the Marble Hill V.F.W. Auxiliary, and a member of the Marble Hill Rebekah Lodge.
Friends may call today after 5 p.m. at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Revs. Bobby Robbins and Steven Sander officiating. Burial will follow in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
