ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Avat L. Pygett of Anna will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Rick Hertenstein will officiate. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery, with graveside rites by Anna VFW Post 3455.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Pygett, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997, at Illinois Veterans Care Center.
He was born Nov. 13, 1912, at Alto Pass, son of Henry and Bertha Tweedy Pygett. He and Velma Baltzell were married Aug. 29, 1935.
Pygett operated Pygett's Grocery many years. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of Atlanta, Ga.; and a daughter, Judith Stoddard of Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
