FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Rev. Aurelius Ottomar Kaltwasser, 99, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Sept. 14, 1906, at Walburg, Texas, son of John A. and Christina (nee Kasperick) Kaltwasser. He married Helene Clara Kunkel in Olney, Texas, on May 20, 1934. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2005.
Rev. Kaltwasser graduated from Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Ill., in 1933. For over 65 years, he faithfully served as pastor of Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregations in Texas, Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Mo., (1949-1962) and in Indiana. He also served as chaplain at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was survived by a son, Wayne A. Kaltwasser of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three daughters, Jeanell J. (James) Peek of Barrington, Ill., Dorothylyn J. (William C.) Evans of Cape Girardeau, and Lanette R. (Rev. Earl) Schmidt of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, Gilbert Kaltwasser of Farwell, Texas; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Helene; a daughter, Mary Dell Kaltwasser; his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Nov. 30, 2005. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals in Fort Wayne, Ind., was in charge of the arrangements.
