AUGUSTA ABERNATHY

JACKSON -- Augusta Abernathy of rural Jackson died Thursday, May 7, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was 89.

She was born March 18, 1903, at Tilset, Mo., daughter of Henry and Louise Springel Voges. She was married Feb. 11, 1928, to Freeman Abernathy. He died Feb. 9, 1975.

She had worked at the International Shoe Co. in Jackson as a floor lady. She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Gene Abernathy of Jackson, one sister, Bertha Abernathy of Jackson; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Abernathy of the home.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cracraft-Miller Chapel, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights cemetery in Jackson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today.
