MALDEN -- Funeral for August Freeman Lape of Malden will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Chapel in Malden. The Rev. Dick Murray will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park at Malden.
Lape, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Advance, son of Cooper and Ida McKinsey Lape. He and Mildred Boyt were married Jan. 12, 1935, at Essex. She died June 18, 1985.
Lape was a farmer. He was a member of Sunnyvale General Baptist Church, past member of Little River Drainage District 28, and past Risco School Board member.
Survivors include a son, Paul Lape of Malden; two daughters, Joyce Maxey of Cape Girardeau, Faye Fair of Marks, Miss.; two brothers, D.K. Lape of Sikeston, Curt Lape of Parma; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, six brothers, and a sister.
