August Glaab Jr., 80, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 26, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Tamms, Ill., to August B. and Virgie Coryell Glaab Sr. He and Shirley Vick were married Jan. 2, 1959.
Glaab was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, where he served in the Junior Department, as Sunday school secretary, and usher.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.
He was a graduate of Draughn's Business College. He was an accountant for Woodward Hardware in Cairo, Ill., then Davis Electric from 1964 to 1984 and Hartline Hardware from 1967 to the present. He was a past president of Cairo Jaycees. He enjoyed working in his yard and flower garden.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Paula (Steve) Lasswell of Olathe, Kan.; a son, Jay Glaab of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Austin and Joshua Lasswell; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gordon Glaab.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, and from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at Lynwood Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to Lynwood Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home and the church.
